ERASMUS+: The Art of De-biasing

 

“The Art of De-biasing” („dBias”) is a three-year project co-financed by the European Union Erasmus+ programme. In order for students to develop practical knowledge and understand what they learn, and teachers be able to provide high level of the educational outcomes, the Institute for Contemporary education in cooperation with the partners in the dBias project, in the course of the forthcoming three years will develop solutions that will completely alter the way of teaching starting a new educational paradigm.

The teachers of Serbia, participating in this project, will have the unique opportunity to attend the expert programmes trainings and become first in the world who are qualified to recognise cognitive bias in students. This is a revolutionary step in the domain of professional development in education. It is also a radical step towards the change of an educational model.

The main goals of the project are:

  • improving communication between teachers and students by raising awareness of the nature, number and impact of cognitive bias and its understanding,
  • designing the tools for collecting data regarding behaviour connected to instances of bias: sensitivity, resistance to influence and intensity of bias in teachers and students at school and university levels,
  • analysing collected data and developing educational strategy for removing bias occurrences and improving communication between teachers and students,   
  • introducing innovative and transversal tool packages regarding education and adult trainings.

 

Project results:

  • interactive video materials,
  • the tools for evaluating, identifying and removal of bias behaviour,
  • grid platform with the algorithm for adaptive learning
  • other didactic materials and educational cognitive development resources
